Dear Rt. 161 Business Leader:
Today’s business maxim is change, change, and more change. As an business leader you know that businesses that adapt to changing customer desires, trends and keeping and attracting customers are those who will prosper and grow.
As a business leader on Route 161 you know that in the days, months and years ahead through recent developments north of us competition will increase for the business of consumers. As part of that challenge the Northland Community Council (NCC) has initiated a campaign to beautify Rt. 161 from I-71 to Ponderosa Drive. Recently NCC received a $15,000 grant from the Columbus Foundation’s Neighborhood Partnership Program to purchase and plant 100 trees and to upgrade the existing landscaped areas along Rt. 161. This is the first step in upgrading the appearance of Rt. 161 so you as a merchant can prosper.
To hear what is currently being done, planned for and to get your input, you are invited to attend the Keep Rt. 161 Beautiful Kick-Off on Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at the Trueman Club Hotel Conference Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be a brief presentation on the beautification efforts and an opportunity to meet your fellow Rt. 161 business leaders. We hope you can attend. We will have light refreshments, door prizes and networking opportunities. Please RSVP to George Schmidt at 895-7459 or Steve Thompson at 478-8469.
We need your help as well. Once the 100 trees are planted we need help maintaining the trees and landscaped areas along Rt. 161. The city can only mow the grass about four times per season. In order to keep Rt. 161 beautiful the area must be maintained more frequently. We have a plan to do this; we want to hire a landscaping company to take care of the landscape maintenance on Rt. 161 from I-71 to Ponderosa Drive. It will cost approximately $15,000 per year to keep the beautification projects properly maintained. This is where you can help. We ask you to consider becoming a friend of the Keep Rt. 161 Beautiful effort by making a financial investment of a suggested tax-deductible gift of $50.00 or more. Any investment is appreciated to continue the beautification and make Rt. 161 an attractive place to do business. You can also join other businesses on the beautification steering committee to plan for the future. Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Steve Thompson
