Junk Day
Well the I.D. Guideline posted on the website here says, that we only get 1 junk day a year. And we already had that one. I think there should be at least 2 a year, since the waste management is so darn picky with what they take, and how much at a time.....That seems to be the way everything is now adays, (pay more, get less)!! |

Junk Pick up
We are down to just one junk pickup a year because of rising gasoline/diesel cost, wage increases and the equipment the I.D. has to maintain and purchase. Nothing in this world is free even though there are many people in our country that feel everything should be free. I.D. will not only take your garbage, recycleables, and yard waste, but if you have any large bulky items such as washers, dryers, freezers, etc., they will will pick these items up if you call their office at 638-9000. These items will be picked up sometime during the week that you call. It is probably best that you call on Mondays for any large items to be picked up. Freezers, refrigerators and A.C. units must have the freon drained from these items by a certified technician. George Langford Councilman |

based on...
Mr. Langford, I am assuming you are representing the city of Woodlawn Park in your reply, since you included that you are a councilman. Fine. Thanks for that. You state as fact that large junk pick-up has been reduced from twice a year to once a year. Then you add, as fact, that this is due to rising diesel prices, wage increases, and equipment maintenance. What are you sources for these facts? Also, when speaking for the city, would it not be wise to leave out such commentary as you end your beginning paragraph. Is it the official position of the City of Woodlawn Park that too many people in this country feel that EVERYTHING should be free? One of the things I most appreciate about Mayor Robertson's posts are that they are without personal commentary. I would like the rest of my representatives to follow suit. Maybe have another web name for personal comments. A suggestion. Otherwise, thanks for you dedication and hard work. By Rob on Middlebrook |
