Doing Their Job

The City of Woodlawn Park spent nearly $20 thousand dollars in the early 1990s to clean up the rear edge of our city along the railroad tracks. This massive effort was followed by a mowing and cleaning program that continues on a regular basis. Concerns with debris behind several properties was brought up at the last Code Enforcement meeting by residents, the police chief and council members. Warnings, not citations were issued as a first step for addressing this problem. The Code Enforcement Board is tracking this matter and you can get more information by attending the next meeting in July. You can also consider a position on this board, as members are on a rotating schedule. Thanks
still have questions

That still does not answer my questions. Will this issue not be disccused at tonight's meeting? I would rather not wait another month for this to be addressed...is there someone I can specifically contact regarding this matter?
warning -vs- citation

There is a huge difference between recieving a warning and a citation. That ''citation'' was used in the first several posts is a little frustrating and basically dismisses everything I had to say on the subject. My apologies to the mayor and city council.

I think a warning is a very good way to introduce such an issue to residents. Now those warned have the oppertunity to respond and take issue with the warning if they chose without punitive action having already been taken.

That being said, I still think it's many of the local youth who are doing the littering and vandalism. But truth is, I don't know which properties were warned and therefore may be speaking out of place.

I do ask for a little more accuracy in our posts. We don't have to be reporters (how reporters used to be) here and be certain of each and every fact but a little dilligence and benefit of a doubt can go a long way. Thanks for the listen. -Rob

FYI

The word ''citation'' along with a citation number was on the piece of paper we received. My husband and I were misinformed by several people on what exactly it was to begin with and I did not get any answers until I went to the Council meeting. No I am not a reporter nor do I intend to come across as one...my only intention of posting the inquiry in the first place was to simply get some clarification on the matter. I wasn't bashing anyone in our community I was just simply looking for some explanation due to the variety of answers we were getting in the first place. I have come to the conclusion that this ''Discussion Index'' serves more purpose for people to moan and groan and belittle others than actually coming together as a community. Thank you to those who were helpful in answering my questions.
