City Council Election

Posted in: Graymoor-Devondale
I was pleased to see the candidate information in the October issue of the Graymoor-Devondale News. It appears that 5 council members of the current 7 are on the ballot. Is that correct? How long are the terms of office? Is there a planned overlap of terms? I would appreciate some clarification on this.

Let me correct your numbers: FOUR of the SIX current City Council Members are running for re-election. They are: Allyne Anderson, John Allen, Mark Sites, and Yvette Winnette.

The terms of office for City Council Members are two years. All city council positions are up for elections every two years. This process is set by Kentucky statute. There is no overlapping of council positions.

The term for Mayor is four years. So, every four years the Mayor?’s position is up for election. Again, the process is governed by Kentucky statute.
