I received a letter in the mail this week from the Decatur Street Coalition
about a person that lives In our community that has been causing some problems.
I spoke with many people in the community and many have said this person has many violations and doing illegal activities. It’s a Disgrace that we have to deal with this. She is not from here and is from France. Her activities
had to do with operating huge illegal death trap hotels in Manhattan ripping
off thousands of dollars from unsuspecting tourist & students who lived in
appauling conditions in Manhattan Chinatown. She has according to many said
many racist comments and . I can speak for a few people in the community and
say the vitality of this community is being threaten by this crazy crooked
woman, something needs to be done about this and her hotel scheme and illegal
business going on, its enough we have drugs in the area now this.
The Letter Reads !
a potential problem on our block.
This letter is to advise you of a potential problem on our block.
137 Decatur St. has been purchased by Virginie Sommet with plans to convert the
building into an illegal transient hotel, she purchased it from the thousands
of dollars she ripped off from unsuspecting tourist & students who lived
under horribly dilapidated mismanaged
conditions, leading to serious health safety, and building code violations, rent ranged from $1,900 to $1,300, per month for a tiny room no bigger than a closet the size of a bed.
Her illegal business
in Manhattan is now focus in Brooklyn, She insulted neighbors in the area
of Bed-Stuy and threw
trash in the front of a neighbors home, she does not care about anyone
and has proven this
many times. Her goal is to profit illegally from the community by destroying
land marked properties which she has done to the building at 137 Decatur St. by
cutting landmark rocks in front of her windows destroying a look of the building.
Virginie Sommet has a history of illegal conversions, she has been committing crooked fraudulent activity and getting away with it and is no stranger to the NYC Dept of Buildings. I encourage our neighbors to help stop the problem by reporting any and all illegal activity to the NYC dept of Building and or the NYPD.
