As in previous years, the Kingston Community and TLC have joined forces to honor those who put that extra effort into their front yards. Winners during the 2002 season will receive a $100 gift certificate for purchases at the TLC nursery. Judging will be done during the middle of each month and will continue through September.
Not only did the winners of May's yard of the month add to the beauty of the neighborhood, but as neighbors, they have worked together to carry the motif across both lots. Passing by their yards at 1418 and 1415 Richmond Road anyone can see the friendship shared between these neighbors. The Endicott and Schuyler families seem to be the true definition of neighbors and thus it seems fitting to honor them as the first winners of the 2002 season. In addition to the 3 L's (Lawn, Landscaping, and Lighting) their yards have plenty of colorful flowers that creatively tie everything together. JJ and Andrea can often be seen walking around the neighborhood during the evenings; should you be out I would recommend a trip down their cul-de-sac to take in May's yard of the month.
The month of June brought another tough decision. There are so many yards worthy of an award and choosing a single yard each month has become a real challenge. In the end the yard at 1104 Richmond Road was chosen. The Diaz family seemed delighted to receive the monthly honor. They further mentioned that although they are new to Kingston they are looking forward to being good neighbors. The neighborhood seems blessed with good neighbors, and we always look forward to welcoming more. Be sure to welcome the Diaz family; and while you are there you can enjoy June's yard of the month.
