Windgate road has numerous potholes. These holes have been there for several weeks and are extremely deep. It is a hassle to dodge these holes. When will these be fixed?

To whom it may concern, this item was brought up by me as the HOA President at the Kirkwood HOA Annual meeting in Nov 2010. The Presidents report  item # 8

As Stated :"The Windgate drive problem with pot holes, we as an HOA cannot endorse or set aside funds to another communities roads, even though we share a right of way and use this main drag to commute in and out of the community. Solution: There are 3 other ways to access the property. Also Mr. Carl Edman - of Punch List who lives in Arrondale has been fixing the potholes. I spoke with him and he stated it cost approx $300.oo to do the repairs. And will cost about the same amount to do repairs again. If some one would like to take up donations and approach him to fix the potholes in Arrondale on Windgate Drive feel free to do so, but we as an HOA cannot endorse it, it must be a private venture.

I am no longer on the board, but can speak as the past President, this is a hindrance to our community and I wish there was a better fix, maybe the new board can look in to having the county force Arrondale do something on the road as it is hazardous, or see what DOT can do, firthermore maybe ask while contacting DOT or the County what it would take to go in to a joint ownership of the road whereby the Sate DOT could take this road over, but that may devolop a forced assesment on all Arrondale holeowners to pay up to get the road serviceable to DOT standards before they would consider taking it over.

I hope this helps you, there are 3 other avenues of getting in and out of Kirkwood, no one forces any one  to drive out the main drag ( Windgate) and the HOA of Kirkwood has no liability to any one that is using that road .

Best bet, get a chairperson to go to the monthly meetings and then take up donations and work with the man from punchlist to see of he will continue to do the maintenance as he has previously done to the road to maintain its upkeep.

Thanks again and hope this helps,

Past Kirkwood HOA President
