CB 7 turns down variance application for office building.

At the CB 7 public hearing held on April 12, 2004, CB 7 unanimously voted to refuse a variance application to build a dental office building on the 'Lemmo Property' on the corner of Parsons and 46th Ave.
This property is located in an R2 residential zone assigned single family homes only. The bassis for turning down the variance was that it would change the character of the neighborhood and the variances that were requested were not minimal variances. This decision is not final but is the first step in the ULURP process. The KPCA is prepared to testify at all future public hearings to insure that this type of structure not be allowed in our R2 residential community.
Mary Hogan, Sally Kahn, Beverly McDermott and Joe Amoroso testified at this hearing for the KPCA. Representatives from Holly Civic, Waldheim Neighborhood, Broadway Flushing and North Flushing Civic also testified against this application in support of the Kissena Park Civic Association. This was a great example of how civics like ours work together adding strength to each others voice.
