Programs for next 4 weeks are:

March 13 - Rob Merchant, Pineville Police Captain - Terrorism in a Post 9-11

March 20 - Denise Altman, "Talking to Teens"

March 27 - Kevin McCoy, Crop Walk

April 3 - Dr. Madhu Engineer, Child Psychiatrist

Announcements:

March 30th is the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Park Road Park from 10:00am - 2:00pm. We will have a FREE booth to attend; we need people to sign up to be in the booth to promote our club. The Kiwanis of Southpark Club will be sharing the booth.

April 6 at Greyson Park from 1-5pm is the annual Community Expo featuring community service groups. We will have a FREE booth to attend with the Kiwanis Club of Southpark. We are seeking members to assist in attending the booth. This is another opportunity to gain new members in our club.

The Waddell High School Key Club was launched on Feb. 21st. Thank you to Harvey, Rosie and Jeanne for all your hard work in making this possible. Thank you to Chris Orr of the Harris YMCA for his presentation to the new Key Club. Harvey and Rosie are seeking members of our club to assist in attending the Key Club meetings.

The Sterling Elementary Terrific Kids Ceremony was held on Feb. 28th. Michael, Chuck, Peter, Jeanne and Ruth attended. Photos are on our club website.

Current Projects:

Thank you Ruth for completing the Community Service Book fundraiser. We raised approx. $800.00 for our club through the efforts of many members who were able to sell the books in our community.

April 13th from 9:00am until 1:00pm our club will be sorting clothes at Crisis Assistance Ministries. Thank you Chuck for arranging this opportunity. If you have toys, clothing, blankets, towels you would like to donate, please bring or give to someone to bring. We will do lunch together afterwards.

Member Personal: Chuck has returned from New Orleans where his daughter was married.

Reports:

Board of Directors action: Approved $60.00 to offset transportation costs of Sterling Elementary School children who will be fit for eye-glasses. The Kiwanis District meeting is in August in Hickory; we are seeking at least 3 people to go for a day trip (Saturday).

Last week's meeting:

Beth Bass, principal of Pineville Elementary School told us of the innovative and award-winning methods that are used at her school. She greets over 500 children every morning personally by name. 900 children are enrolled at Pineville. The Terrific Kids program is alive and well at Pineville. Every month at Pineville is a community service month with projects that reach out beyond Pineville.
