And I forgot to mention, we DID get several quotes a few months ago that would replace the entire fence-line. It was simply too much to replace at the time. Once it became as a POSSIBLE in our budget, the new law went into effect.
While we have cut our annual expenses by over ten thousand dollars over the last couple of years, we are awaiting new quotes for several things before we can assess any newly available funds for improvements. The fence will cost almost 3x what we have managed to save... and that is assuming people pay their assessments.
Not to mention we are STILL trying to get the streets fixed AND the park that the front half were promised by OBRA when we had our homes built. To facilitate this, I have a scheduled an appointment with State Rep. Jose Menendez's office this Thursday since our county commissioner seems to be ignoring the middle class these days. Also Karen has contacted the county commissioner (and been brushed off) as well as Governor Perry's Office, and I have also contacted our US Senators.
My personal opinion is that we are neither rich enough to warrant their attention (campaign donors) nor are we poor enough to warrant attention (publicity) This is a middle class area and we get forgotten. Karen and I have been fighting for YEARS to get attention to our neighborhood's needs. REAL NEEDS... not cosmetic ones (like a fence.)
Once again, sorry to be so brutal.
