Crime Report; 12/23/2010

Good Morning! Here is your police report for Thursday 12/23/2010…

At about 5:10 yesterday afternoon, Officer Farley was dispatched to a theft call at a store in the 4700 block of Southwest Dr. Loss prevention personnel reported that a customer took several clothing items to a dressing room and removed the price tags, then put some of the clothes on, and the rest in her purse, then left the store without paying for the items. This 36 year old female was contacted outside of the store and found to have stolen $352.00 worth of clothing and she was arrested for the theft. She was also found to have an outstanding warrant for Theft by Check.

A couple of hours later at about 7:30pm, Officer Farley was dispatched to the same store regarding another shoplifter. This time, the suspect left the scene in a car. Loss prevention personnel pointed the suspect out to Officer Farley. Officer Farley initiated a traffic stop on this car, and eventually stopped the car near the 83/84 “Y” south of town. The driver of the car, a 52 year old Merkel woman was arrested for Theft and Evading Arrest. The items stolen were valued at $84.00, but a check revealed that this woman has four (4) prior convictions for Theft, so the theft charge was enhanced to a State Jail Felony.

Finally, at about 10:55 last night, Officer Ohnheiser was dispatched to theft call in the 500 block of Hickory. It was reported that a man was trying to steal some property from a business at that location. When Officer Ohnheiser contacted the man, he ran from the Officer. This 38 year old man was captured a couple of blocks away and charged with Evading Arrest. He was also found to have an outstanding Theft warrant from Tarrant County.

For the Abilene Police Department, this is Officer Gary Heslep. Have a great day, and a very Merry Christmas!
