  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor

I sent a ripper this morning and it was not posted...so again let me try as you just took my last post...maybe there was a computer error.

From what I understand there is to be a meeting at the Baptist Church on 22nd Ave. across from Azalia Middle School at 7pm tonight and every 2ed Thursday of the month concerning the Raytheon contaminated zone. Sorry to those in the Eagle Crest neighborhood on the "other side" of 66th street for not being informed about this however apparently our leader is too busy standing on his soap box beating his chest over the now dead issiue of the development at 66th and 9th ave.  I would like to also inform those from 7th, 8th and 9th ave. west of 66th street to 70th ave and the south side of 9th ave north that our neighborhood (actually all of Eagle Crest) was rezoned this past year. Mr. Lubin was informed about the intent of the city's request to change the zoning from 7 houses per acre to 5 houses per acre with no more than 3 bedrooms per dewelling.....doesn't make much sense as this area has been built out. However after doing some searching I was able to find out that property in this area can now be taken by "eminent domain" for either a transportation hub or educational purpose. I can understand Mr. Lubins non response to this and the contamination issiue now faceing the "bastard few" who live on the other side of 66th street as it doesn't concern his immediate area...YET.  I say yet as in a few years he too will be feeling the affect of our lost property values due to the contamination.  Let's face it, ask yourself the question:  Would I move my wife and baby children into a contaminated zone? Do you need me to answere that for you? Of course you don't, that's a no brainer>  Thus when the property values drop over here and we either sell out or rent our properties it will most likely be to folks who are not the most desireables. The once non affordable homes will now become affordable due to the loss in property values.  What in term that will bring is a degeneration to the area and as well higher crime. Perhaps it is time for Mr. Lubin to climb down off his self proclaimed pedestal and realize there is other business to attend to.
