We have a logo!!
Neighbor Rich Linden designed the new logo for the neighborhood. Isn't it wonderful? Thank you Rich!

Hey, Nice Shirt!
Neighborhood Apparel
Now that we have a logo, we are taking orders for neighborhood apparel. Look in this newsletter (and your emailbox soon) for a flyer and order form for Land of Lakes shirts, caps, sweatshirts and more! For best pricing we will place orders two times a year and this first one will be placed by November 17 to have merchandise in your hands by the holidays. The second order will be placed in the spring. We cannot place any order without cash or check along with the order. You can see the order form in color at the web site at www.neighborhoodlink.com/roswell/lolhoa. Want to help on this committee? Call Deborah Waller at 7/642.1481 or 6/969.0538.

Safety Committee
Needs a Chairman
We have a couple areas of importance this year on the safety committee. Number one is the Neighborhood Watch sub-committee. Number two is a newly formed Safe Neighborhood Driving sub-committee. The Safety Committee Chairman would coordinate both and delegate duties to committee members to accomplish the goals set forth by the committees. This is a very important position. Wish to give it a go? Call LOL HOA VP Bruce Coburn at 6/585.9217 or email at bcoburn@nbank.com.

New Book Club Forming
If you're interested in joining, call Connie Dickinson at 770-998-8910 or Nell Fernandez at 770-587-3495.

Deck the Halls - you could win $50 to The Home Depot!
The Land of Lakes Home Owners' Association is sponsoring a contest for the house with the Most Holiday Spirit. Drag out your lights, your life-size menorahs and nativity scenes. Inflate your blow up snowmen and start making your fake snow. Whatever your theme, if you are a Land of Lakes HOA member you are eligible to win $50 from The Home Depot if your house is chosen to be the best decorated in the neighborhood. Judging will take place Sunday December 21, 2003 and the winner will be notified right away!

Yard of the Season
Ed & Silvina Klaas' yard at 1180 North Coleman Road has been selected as the yard of the season for Fall. Congratulations!

Neighborhood Watch
Our neighborhood is divided into 19 segments and each segment is assigned a Block Captain. Some of last year's Block Captains have agreed to continue this year - thank you! We need a few more Block Captains.

-Work with eight homes and install a structure to watch out for each other's property; -Are responsible for emergency information and phone numbers that may not be available to others in that group; -Act as law enforcement liaison to informs the group about law breaking activities that have occurred in the neighborhood. (If you have a Block Captain supervisor that person will be the designated liaison with law enforcement); -Maintain and update neighborhood map and phone tree.

If you wish to help keep our neighborhood safe, please contact LOL HOA VP Bruce Coburn at 6/585.9217 or email at bcoburn@nbank.com.

Taking Steps to Encourage Slow, Safe Neighborhood Drivers
A committee to slow down drivers in our neighborhood is forming. Ideas are being shared and options are being considered. If you are concerned about the potentially dangerous drivers in the neighborhood, join this sub-committee and help us. Please contact LOL HOA VP Bruce Coburn at 6/585.9217 or email at bcoburn@nbank.com.

Lake Information
The City held a Lake Management and Maintenance seminar this month and HOA member/lake property owner Phillip Knowles attended on our behalf. Phillip reported that a lot of information was covered and the seminar was very informative. A few examples of what he learned are: *Our lakes are considered dams. *All lake (dam) property owners are financially responsible for any damage caused by the dam breaking. *Usually, all lake (dam) lot owners are sued in the event of a wrongful death.
*The city recommends fencing your lot (if feasible) and at the very least erecting a no trespassing sign.

A Lake Management and Maintenance booklet was made available at this seminar and we are in the process of getting copies. There is also interest in forming a lake property owners' committee. If you are interested in either, please call or email Lori Benton - 678.352.9119, lbenton@rjgriffin.com.

City History
Want to learn about the history of Roswell? Attend a meeting of the Roswell Historical Society - the group meets the first Thursday each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Teaching Museum (the school next door to the Presbyterian Church on Mimosa Street). Delicious refreshments. Visitors always welcome. For more information call Nell Fernandez at 7/587.3495.

Welcoming Committee
Five folks formed the Welcoming Committee at a meeting on September 30th. Charles Caudell, Connie & Russ Dickinson, Lori Benton and Nell Fernandez chose to welcome new neighbors and new babies to the neighborhood. New neighbors will be greeted with a copy of the Contractor's Book, the new Directory (not out yet) and the names and phone numbers of the welcoming committee. New Babies will be welcomed with a treat for the family along with the Welcoming Committee contact list. Please help to keep the committee informed of new neighbors and new babies. Contact Lori Benton at 6/352.9119 or loribenton@bellsouth.com. Garage Sold! Fifteen households participated in the fall garage sale. Most say Friday was the better sale day yet the weather was great for both! Thanks to all who participated and special thanks to Linda Craig for the permits and to Mary Blalock for her coordination.

The next Neighborhood garage sale will be held the 2nd weekend after Easter. We need a coordinator. Care to volunteer? Contact Lori Benton at 6/352.9119 or loribenton@bellsouth.com.

For the Spring Garage Sale we will consider a preview night on the Thursday before so we "'hoodlums" can get best pick of the merchandise. We will also arrange for AADD or the like to come by each house on Monday to pick up all remaining items you don't wish to keep.
