Today we received in the mail a second notice that our dues are now mandatory and are $30.  When was the notice coming that outlined the covenant amendment and when was the first notice sent out?  I am okay with the $30/yr dues but please let there be more communication.  The website is not the only medium that owners use to communicate.

I hope that we see more visible signs of what the dues are being used for.  Maybe some $ to go to berm maintenance?  It is really bad to see that whatever entity is responsible for the care of landscaping in GM on non-owned property is letting it go so bad.  The dandelions and other weeds take a lot of work to remove.  Who is supposed to be doing that?  I would like to see a line item in the budget for grounds maintenance.

Jane -

Proper communication is not in these people's creed.  Nor is common sense. I never received a first notice either, nor did I receive a copy of the resolution or the amendment explaining that the dues were mandatory.  This "web site" of theirs is a joke, as are their methods of communications.

You have to realize - these are the same egregious idiots who published a directory with children's names, addresses, and phone numbers on the public Internet.  When they passed out the directory, it even says on the front it is for private use of the GM households.... so why did these morons post it on the Internet?! Sure - they took it down, only after being chastised for doing so.

Yeah - I hear ya on the weeds.  "Social functions" is also on the bill.  Social functions?  Their once a year picnic?  Bet that enjoys rave attendance (NOT!).

Guess we should count our lucky stars it's only $30.  According to their own language, that amount cannot be raised until we sell our homes.  Because of the damage this current administration has already done to our economy, that $30 is nothing.  I hope they enjoy it.

We got our directory this week.  What a waste of time, money and paper.  It was on our doorstep where anyone could come by when we were not there and take all the information that is in it.  More idiot moves.  There has to be a better way to distribute things like this.  Don't we have block captains.  By the way who are the block captains?  I would like to talk to mine about a few things.

We did want to buy a different house in the neighborhood.  We are rethinking that decision.  I don't want to be subject to a ever increasing HOA fee that doesn't really do much.  Also, did we really end up paying a lawyer almost $1000.  Was that in the budget?

Members of the GM community voluntarily went door-to-door for many weeks, attempting to contact each home owner twice, circulating the petition to amend the covenants to fix the dues at 30/year for the current owners. The majority of homeowners contacted signed the petition for each of the 4 filings, thus the amendment was enacted upon filing the documents through the necessary legal paths.

This petition was also discussed at length at the annual meeting: announcements were mailed to all homeowners regarding the time and place of this meeting.

GM HOA volunteers perform the maintainance of the berm, and would be happy to add you to the list to perform this valuable community service.  The weather during the majority of the preceding weekends, the time when these volunteers work on the berms, has not been very conducive to such efforts.

Feel free to contact any of the board members via the contact list on the opening page, or within the directory, to offer your assistance towards the berm maintainance, architectural review or other committees.
