Grapevine news
Thank you for the update. When I called the non-emergency dispatch line, the woman told me it was a robbery, but wouldn't give out any additional information. A neighbor, who was awake during all of the commotion, thought he heard the police say that a guy they had picked up had escaped out of the squad car. I contacted Detective Dixon for an update, but he hasn't gotten back with me. Well, thank you for the clarification!

Bikes & lawnmowers
I just want to share with everyone that in the summertime, bikes and lawnmowers are the most common things stolen. That happened to us a couple of years ago. My bike, lawnmower, and a few other gardening items (leaf blower) were stolen. The person had cut my lock on my shed. Needless to say, my shed is now like Fort Knox. Make certain your shed and/or garage is difficult to break into!

The Mayor's Crime Package
Per an email from Rachel Buckmaster:
The Mayor?’s Crime Package: http://www.indygov.org/NR/exeres/98F4B920-BAB0-4A74-B64A-9553DAF92101.htm
We?’re really looking for support in the neighborhoods for some of these legislative changes that would allow us to more effectively tackle crime.

8/16/07 - car was stolen
Please be aware that a car was stolen yesterday (8/16/07) in our neighborhood.
Location: 66th St. and Broadway
The details are that the residents were upstairs at the time of the burglary. The downstair's door was unlocked. The screen was shut, but the solid door was ajar. The garage was also open.
Someone came in the side door, took the keys and wallet off the table, and stole their car. It happened sometime in the afternoon - at approx. 2 or 3 p.m.
Reminder: please report any suspicious behavior.
