Guest Speaker
Randy Brierton of Fire Station #4 addressed the group.
(1) He suggested that Neighborhood Watch could be of assistance at the scene of a fire by re-directing traffic around the affected block.
(2) He asked that we be alert for fires in the area. There have been three fires in abandoned structures recently. He asked that we keep a lookout for people who show up to watch every fire.
(3) Smoke detectors are required to be furnished in all rental units. Free detectors are available through the LFD. He told us that CO detectors could be purchased for under $40 and recommended Blackhawk.
(4) The "Fill the Boot" drive will be June 25-27 at the intersection of Sheridan & Cache.
(5) The Fire Marshall is trying to get all of the city's 3,000+ fire hydrants painted.
After Randy's talk, Cindy Nocton offered to call the Fire Marshall and offer our assistance in painting the fire hydrants.
