Committee Reports:
Neighborhood Watch
Charles Alexander was not at the meeting but did relay to Dave Maples that he attended the Dekalb County Neighborhood Watch Meeting and there were no criminal reports in our neighborhood or Pine Hills.

Welcome and Social Committee
The block partly in June was a great success and a lot of fun. No new events planned at this time,

Pine Hills Association
Art Boccuti reported that a newsletter is forthcoming from the Pine Hills Association. Pine Hills has also completed its New Signage at Buford & Shady Valley. Art also reported on behalf' of the PDK Airport Watch group that legal action to obtain PDK records regarding flights is underway. The airport director Lee Remmel says there are no plans to expand the run way; however he is trying to get the runways' weight capacity guideline increased from 65,000 lbs. to 100,000 lbs. Allowing heavier and nosier traffic to use the airport. The upcoming newsletter will ask for contributions from the neighborhoods toward the legal action to allow flight records to be reviewed showing flight times and weights to insure they are abiding by the ordinance restricting traffic to aircraft no heavier than 65,000 pounds. Art has requested a portable noise monitoring system be set up here in Lenox Valley to record the noise levels we hear. Common conversation between two people is recorded at 70 dB. The DeKalb County noise restriction guide lines say any regular sound that is louder then 70 dB is an intrusion and violates its noise ordinance.

In response to citizen pressure, Peachtree-DeKalb Airport has established a '-PDK Noise Hotline", for registering complaints (or comments) regarding noise from over-flying aircraft. The telephone number is 770-936-5442. Art Boccuti advised that your call will be answered by an automated voice. You will be asked to provide your name, address, zip code, telephone number and the date & time of the noise prior to being allowed to leave your information. Please take a look at WWW.pdkwatch for additional information. Noise not only spoils our quality of life it can bring down our property value. So please post the complaint Hot Line number by you phone and make the call whenever you feel it is warranted.

Architectural
With regard to the recent sidewalk construction the Pine Hills Traffic Committee is trying to get it extended into Fulton county (City of Atlanta) and down to Shady Valley Park.

Art also reported that the new sidewalk retaining walls will be faced with granite. Also note that the sidewalk will not affect our property taxes. It is being subsidized through the "Host Fund" voted into law in 1997. Art also mentioned that our landscaped square footage did not come down because of the sidewalk addition. Please note LVA has replaced Ron's Landscaping with Shamrock Landscaping Service.
We have begun using their services already. Tim McAlerney 770-889-5072 is the owner and on site manager.

We have an unexpected driveway repair expense (Manaugh): an estimate is forthcoming.
Bob Fisher reported that he (as well as several other neighbors) might need to replace his roof shingles in the near future. It may be to our collective advantage to obtain an estimate that includes roofing several houses. Please contact Bob Fisher or Dave Maples if you are interested in obtaining a group estimate.

Budget
Dave Maples reported on behalf of Jack Hill. Attached is a copy of the current 2002 budget report.

Real Estate Committee
Art Boccuti reported that the sale prices of houses in the surrounding streets of Pine Hills are averaging $425,000 to $800,000. The Association is encouraging neighbors to consider using the Association's recommended agent. Contact Bobby Fisher for more details.

New Business The September Meeting will be hosted by Jack and Jo Hill.
