Violence and Drug Deals at Limestone Creek

Two people were shot and killed on 4th Street.  This is tragic news.  Is this how we want to live in a community?  Is this how you want your kids to be raised?  This community could be better if we take a stand against the drug dealing and the violence.  There are people who live in this neighborhood who pay for their mortgage even though their house is underwater.  There are good people that rent and maintain the home they are renting.

We have people that are living in this area that don’t care about the face of this neighborhood.  We have people that come here to do their drug deals and etc.  As black African Americans we need to set a new standard.  It starts with us.  We can make a difference in the neighborhood if we want to.

You and I want to be able let our kids play outside without fear.  We want to be able to greet one another.  We want to be able have neighborhood cookout and etc.  We need to rid of those who are polluting the neighborhood.  What do I mean by this?  Get rid of the drug dealers in every street corner.  How are we going to do this?  First of all we need to get the Sherriff department attention by calling any suspicious activity that is going on in the area.  This will reduce less drug deals or even eliminate the drug deals and violence in the area because of the cops present.  All it takes is a phone call.  You don’t have to say your name or address.

Second we need to have a rally.  We need to march down each street on Limestone Creek and let the drug dealers, gang members, etc that this is our neighborhood.  We need to let them know that we will not tolerate the things that are going on in the neighborhood.

We have to push for surveillance in this neighborhood during the night time.  This is when these drug dealers and people that don’t leave in the neighborhood come out and do their business.

The commissioner Karen Marcus need to step up to the plate about these issues that are going on the neighborhood.

ejcone79;  I agree that we must stand together to improve the overall quality of our neighborhood.  Please contact all other resident's you know and have them attend the next community meeting.  Our efforts have to start at home because there are many complaining and those they complain against are their own family and acquaintances.  We have to stand together and your ideas are a great way to start if we can get others to "rally to the call".  The next meeting has been scheduled for Monday, May 7th at 6:00 p.m. at the Edna Runner Tutorial Center.  We will be discussing street lights at the next meeting.  Please contact Commissioner Marcus's office and let her know of any other items you wish to discuss so she can make sure the appropriate people are there. The following numbers are to her administrative assistant - office:  355-2201, fax:  355-6094, direct:  355-6464

Please attend the next meeting and introduce yourself.  Hope to see you there neighbor.

I will be there at the next meeting.  Not to be rude or anything, but wouldn't you think it would be best to discuss the violence and drug dealing that is going on the neighborhood.  After all two people were shot to death and they still have not found the killer.  This should be first priority since some people are living in fear at this moment.  Does the Commissioner or the Sherriff office care about what just happened?  I understand this is not the best neighborhood to live in, but you have homeowners that want this neighborhood to be better.  Our tax dollars are going to these people and they are not doing anything about the shoothings and drug dealing that is going on in this neighborhood.  The Commisioner and the Sherriff office should be the ones taking a stand against these issues.  After all, they are leaders?  Are street lights more important than those other issues?  If this type of incident happened in their neighborhood than it would be first priority instead of discussing street lights.  Let's be serious and wake up.  Nothing geared towards you personally, but it is sad to see what is more important.
