Lincoln Village Community Association

Seasonal Projects for Volunteers

One would hardly know it now, but spring will be here soon; and when it comes we’ll all be out in our yards pruning, fertilizing, mowing and edging. Our common areas will also need attention. The association board has again contracted with Gaskin and Sons to mow and fertilize those areas.
However, the care of Lincoln Village’s many scrubs and flowerbeds cannot, for budgetary reasons, be included in that contract. These tasks have always been done by volunteers – residents who enjoy both the activity of gardening and the idea of serving their neighbors by helping to beautify the common areas.
Last year, several LV residents stepped forward to volunteer for these tasks. They were named and recognized in the fall issue of the Lincoln Log. We need volunteers again – for some of the same tasks, and for others that also need to be done.
Here is a list of jobs that need to be done:
1. Stonewall Run entrance – Tend shrubbery, maintain flower beds and pick up litter.
2. Newberry Dr. entrance, at Stand Ridge Run – Tend shrubbery, maintain flower beds and pick up litter.
3. South Playground – Keep down weeds, pick up litter and empty trash can regularly.
4. North Playground, by the tennis courts – Keep down weeds, pick up litter and empty trash can regularly.
5. Stonewall Run, at the dam – Tend shrubbery, maintain flower beds and pick up litter.
6. Valdosta Dr. entrance, at Landsford Dr. – Tend shrubbery and pick up litter.
7. Go through the wooded portion of the Fit-Trail, off Valdosta, about once each month with a gasoline-powered blower to remove fallen leaves and twigs from the walk.
These efforts would beautify Lincoln Village. If you have other suggestions that would enhance our community, or if you would like to volunteer for one of these tasks, please e-mail me, ghlange@fwi.com or phone me, 497-7042. I hope to hear from you.
One of Lincoln Village’s attractions, when we purchased our home seven years ago, was the beauty of its yards and common areas. The efforts of LV residents – on the common areas as well as on their own property – enhance both the beauty and the value of our homes. Let’s keep up the good work.
