Recently two incidents of criminal activity in our neighborhood were brought to light. One involved a break-in when the resident was at home: no one was hurt and police are looking for the suspect. Also, you probably heard the police helicopters overhead the other week: police and SWAT units were combing our neighborhood for a different suspect. We aren?’t living in La-La Land, folks. Please lock up, use outside lighting at night, know where your kids are, keep your eyes open for any suspicious activity, and do not hesitate to call the police to investigate anything odd. We can?’t expect the police to make us safe. The responsibility for taking steps to be safe belongs to each of us; law enforcement is a handy tool to help us do that. They need us as much as we need them.
