Hello! Smile There is a bylaw in section 3 subsection C that states "No inoperable automobile shall be parked or kept on any lot (except in garage) or on any street in the subdivision"  I have noticed that there are a few homes that always have the same vehicles parked in their driveway that never seem to move.  One example is the car and the van parked outside the three car garage just as you enter into the neighborhood.   (I thought at first they may have worked 3rd shift, but I, as well as others, have seen the vehicles there at all hours)  Even if the cars start, but are never driven, shouldn't they park them in the garage instead of the driveway?

The car and van parked in my driveway both are operable and yes we both work 1st shift and we do use the car and van on occasion.  Our 3 car garage holds 2 other cars and a ridding lawn mower along with ........

If you happen to have an extra slot in your garage we would be happy to move one of them.

Oh Hi!  Thanks for responding, sorry, I have been traveling a bit and have not kept up with this site - sorry my reply is so delayed!  I did notice that the van had been moved after I posted my initial comment, so everyone can see the van, at least, is operable.

I hope you don't think my comment was a personal attack, but I am afraid by your bolding my driveway, that you may have taken my comment that way.  That was not my intent and for that I apologize.

I guess I have a hard time seeing the difference between this situation and boats or other vehicles that are not allowed to be parked in driveways, when it is your third and fourth vehicle and seldom ever driven or moved.  Obviously, you are allowed to own boats and commercial vehicles, but according to the bylaws you have to make sure you have enough room in your garage to store it, or you must store it somewhere else.  I would argue that same point for all vehicles that are not primary vehicles to the household and sit unmoved a substantial majority of the time.

BUT you have me on a technicality since, personal autos are not mentioned in the by laws, just commercial vehicles and boats.  Maybe you can change them up a bit and park the van close to the garage and the SS by the road (if you ask me the SS is nicer to look at since it is a cool car!).

If you find you have too many vehicles to use, may I suggest donating a vehicle to a family that could use it on a full time basis.  Here are a few websites that may help you decide to donate - it is a good cause, you help a family in need AND you get a tax break!
