First of all, having been here only 1 summer, I will trust what other residents are saying about non-LSF residents using the pool although I have never seen the problem first hand. Seems to always be plenty of empty chairs. So I applaud the management's efforts to reserve the pool for the residents who pay the bills. The idea a resident ID bracelets seems like a good alternative to "signing" a notebook upon entering the pool.
But the idea of residents not being able to bring ANY guests is unheard of. And to hide behind the American Disability's Act as the reason not to allow guests is quite amusing. I'm not a lawyer but I question that allowing residents to escort guests to the pool would somehow make our pool "Public". And I would like to know why the developer didn't build the pool up to adequate standards for the handicapped? Did they not think we would have handicapped residents in LSF? What "substantial costly modifications are needed? And I would think we are opening up ourselves to a lawsuit if the deed restrictions given to residents do not clearly state that the pool does not meet ADA guidelines. Who knew?
ID bracelets are a good idea. But dues paying residents should also be allowed 2-4 "guest" bracelets. How can you tell your granddaughter or your son's friend that they can not come visit you and go swimming at your fabulous pool????
