35 people turned out, huh? That's pretty spectacular if you ask me. All your work was worth it then. It does take hard work to get people to participate in anything that doesn't benefit them directly, like easy quick cash in their pocket.
As for getting code enforcement to levy fines, sometimes that works and other times not. Take for instance the one house on Copperfield that has been let go years ago. This was a board member who just up and left. Why, no one seems to know. It's got a long list of fines but there it sits and what's going to be the end result and when? I keep dreaming a bulldozer will just come in and scrape the lot clean and haul the junk to the dump. How do you get this to happen though? Phone calls I think. I'll have to remember to take the time to do that.
If I would have gotten one of those flyers mailed to me I would have shown up as I don't live there anymore but only rent my house out. I keep my house in good order I'll have you know and the renters are good and clean people too.
I've gone out and talked to neighbors in this 'hood where I live now and it's made a difference. I got one resident to finally move his basketball hoop stand to the rear of the house. These things are eyesores not to mention annoyance to my ears.
