In an effort to keep all our Neighbors informed about this issue, we have sought up-to-date information about this issue from Florida Officials.
As of December 20, 2012, "no decision" has been made in Polk County on SB 550, pertaining to the inspection & pumping requirements for home septic tanks every 5 years. The Florida Legislature has identified those Counties with "First Magnitude Springs" as the Counties with the highest priority. All of these (19) Counties are north of Polk County and have passed an "Opt-Out" Resolution. There are no First Magnitude Springs in Polk County.
It seems for now, Septic Tank Evaluation is not mandatory.
