Metro Council Meeting Update

Here are a few highlights from Thursday night?’s Council meeting. For additional information, visit www.louisvilleky.gov/MetroCouncil/default.htm.

I joined with Councilmembers Tina Ward-Pugh and Ellen Call to honor St. Matthews Mayor Art Draut. We presented Mayor Draut with a proclamation honoring his 22 years of service as Mayor of St. Matthews. Mayor Draut is retiring as the Mayor of St. Matthews at the end of the year.

The Metro Council passed a stronger, more comprehensive smoking ban. The ordinance bans smoking in most public buildings and workplaces, and exempts Churchill Downs and tobacco manufacturers. I was proud to be a leader on this issue to help protect the health of our residents and to create a more level playing field for our local businesses.
