Thanks to a Few-- 4/24 Cleanup

Posted in: W St Catherine
Well, we held the cleanup on the 24th, although I will have to define very narrowly the concept of ?“we?”. ?“We?”, under these circumstances, equals my family, John Albers, David May, and the cooperative people at Talbot House. Peggy Cummins had to work that morning, but was kind enough to give us a cash donation toward our efforts.

In short, it came off like most events in this neighborhood. My family joins one or two of you. I admit that I have bowed out, primarily from sheer exasperation at the lack of cooperation and community whenever circumstances involve getting people?’s hands dirty. I?’m working three jobs?—I know by your actions that your jobs are assumed to be more important than mine?—but this time I decided to honor my work obligations rather than shift my schedule, since none of you seem prepared to do that.

Rhonda is too kind. I am urging her not to undertake another term as your neighborhood chair: you have consistently confused her office with custodial services, and I think that seven years of that is sufficient.

Have a good summer and fall. I?’m sure I?’ll see you at the progressive dinner?—after all, there?’s free food there, isn?’t there?
