But, some politicians and their supporters like to assume that objective-minded believers do not believe in Heaven at all. This is a powerful message in politics. It come across something like this. We offer you eternal life but they offer only a better life on earth, if things go well enough.
This characterization is untrue and unfair. Objective-minded believers just have more humility on the subject than the political traditionalists. They recognize that modern science has raised good questions about immortality which deserve honest answers. It's just not good enough to say we already know everything because The Bible explained it all for us thousands of years ago. That's much too easy. Life is intended to challenge us to think harder than that.
So, the objective-minded view of Heaven is less specific and it changes step-by-step as we learn more about reality and eternity. Some call this kind of knowledge "continuing revelation."
