"Welcome to Lutz" Sign to be Replaced

It's been nearly four years since our "Welcome to Lutz" sign was removed by the Department of Transportation (DOT) to make room for the widening of Highway 41.
Thanks to the generosity of George Sturdivant, a member of our community, and a $1,000 neighborhood mini-grant from Hillsborough County, we will have new signs at both Highway 41 northern and southern boundaries in time for our community's Fourth of July festivities.
George has offered to manage the creation and development of the signs through is company's (The Sturdivant Company) connections. He will also manage the work required by DOT, supplying engineer-certified plans, and with Hillsborough County, obtaining the necessary permitting.
So, this summer, be on the lookout for a new "Welcome to Lutz" sign at the apex (Lutz' southern boundary) and near County Line Road (Lutz' northern boundary) on Highway 41.


A Brochure to Tell Our Story, Recruit Members

The Lutz Civic Association has a lot to be proud of and we plan to toot our horn with a brochure detailing our history, our accomplishments, our goals, the benefits of membership, and pertinent contact information.
Late last year the Association applied for a neighborhood mini-grant from Hillsborough County, for purposes of developing this brochure. In February your Board of Directors received notice that our Association has been approved for a $1,200 grant.
The brochure will be made available at our membership meetings and community events such as the Lutz Arts & Crafts Show and Fourth of July festivities. It will also be provided to developers with an interest in our community, so that they have a better understanding of our expectations. And, it will become a critical component of a membership package that will also be developed.
Those coordinating the development of these materials?—Denise Layne, Carolyn Meeker and Sharon Espinola?—have targeted the Fourth of July as the completion date for the brochure and membership package.
