Great American Clean Up a success with MENA’s help

Oct 13, 2005

The McKinley Elvas Neighborhood Alliance once again co-sponsored the annual American River Clean-Up Event on Saturday, September 17. As in past years, MENA was responsible for the Paradise Beach River Access location. This location is in River Park at the end of Carlson Drive at Glenn Hall Park, where MENA signed up volunteers, passed out trash bags and gave each volunteer a free t-shirt.

This year, over 1,100 volunteers participated at various river locations, removing over 22,000 pounds of trash from the American River Parkway. At MENA?’s Paradise Beach location, over 100 volunteers participated in the clean-up effort. Piles of recyclables and debris were collected, including 7 old shopping carts, an old raft, and a rusty BBQ.

Please plan on joining MENA volunteers for next year?’s clean up in September of 2006, and help keep the ?“crown jewel?” of Sacramento clean and safe. Join the Great American River Clean-Up!
