MPE NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS / ISSUES

Madera Parc Estates Website Updates

At the 2002 Annual Meeting, homeowners questioned why we no longer updated the Madera Parc Estates web-site.

In 2000 - 2001, we had updated information on a weekly basis. Even though we had provided the URL in newsletters, flyers, etc., our site viewing hits by homeowners had come to a halt. The only hits (individuals accessing our site) were from the individuals entering data. It was decided at that time that our neighborhood did not have enough news to keep homeowners interested in visiting the site. It was voted that we would discontinue the website updates.

At the annual meeting requests for volunteers to supply information and update the site was requested. Although we did not receive any volunteers, we will again provide updates on a trial basis to see if interest of our neighborhood has increased. With computers, email and internet becoming more common in the home, we are hoping that will be the case.

If you have any articles you would like discussed or entered, please contact Peg Maul or one of the other MPE Board Members.

Thanks!

Go-Peds in the Neighborhood

At the 2002 Annual Meeting, homeowners questioned rules regarding Go-Peds. The homeowners association does not govern use of go-ped scooters. If you have a concern regarding this issue, please contact the City of Gilbert. Following is the Arizona State Go-Ped Ordinance:

GO-PED ORDINANCE
Duties and Responsibilities
ARIZONA STATE LAW CATEGORIZES GO-PEDS, OR MOTORIZED SKATEBOARDS AS VEHICLES. THIS MEANS THAT OPERATORS OF GO-PEDS OR MOTORIZED SKATEBOARDS ON PUBLIC STREETS OR PROPERTY MUST OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS APPLICABLE TO VEHICLES (ALTHOUGH NOT ALL LAWS APPLICABLE TO MOTOR VEHICLES, SUCH AS LICENSING AND REGISTRATION) AND APPLICABLE LOCAL ORDINANCES. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND OPERATION OF THESE VEHICLES ON THE ROADWAY FOR THE SAFETY OF BOTH THE SKATEBOARD RIDER AND MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATORS AND OTHER CITIZENS.
The following list contains some selected laws / ordinances and practical suggestions for your safe and legal operation of GO-PEDS:
•If you intend to operate a go-ped on public streets, we suggest you get the Arizona Driver’s License study guide from MVD.
•If a go-ped is operated on the streets, it must be operated in a safe and legal manner.
•You must obey official traffic control signals, signs, and other traffic devices applicable to vehicles.
•You may not ride within any path or lane designated by state or local law as a bicycle path, on sidewalks, in town parks (including retention basin areas), or areas otherwise posted as prohibiting skateboards.
•You may not ride on any public roadway consisting of a total of four or more marked traffic lanes, or having an established speed limit of greater than 25 miles per hour.
•You may not ride on the private property of another, or any public property that is not held open to the public for vehicle use, without the written permission of the owner, the person entitled to immediate possession of the property, or the authorized agent of either.
•Parents are ultimately responsible for the actions and safety of their children.
•Violation of state or local laws may result in a traffic citation.
