MINUTES OF MADISON PARK HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

Meetings are always the 2nd Monday of each month. Martin Doss, President,
called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
(Remember doors always open at 7:00 p.m. for 1/2 hour of social time)

WELCOME to our new members & attendees! We had a large crowd with many
residents from Montclaire in attendance. WELCOME!

CRIME STATISTICS AND ISSUES:

Westover Division - Officer Hairston (From October, 2005)

1. 1120 Woodlawn Rd. - Larceny - stolen tag from a vehicle
2. 1711 Tyvola Rd. - Burglary
3. 5223 Baker Dr. - Burglary - someone broke into residence during the
day, came through the kitchen
4. 5100 Furman Pl - Burglary - someone broke into owner's shed & stole
items

Officer Hairston handed out Holiday Shopping Safety Tips & Home and Holiday
Security Tips. During the holiday season your chances of being a victim of
a burglary increases 15 - 20%. Be aware! He also gave us information
about frauds & scams targeting seniors.

South Division - Officer Del Duca's partner, Jenny Woodlief, attended.

1. 5200 block Londonderry - Breaking & Entering - someone broke into
owner's shed
2. 1800 block Emerywood - Breaking & Entering
3. 1200 block of Tyvola - domestic disturbance
4. 2000 block of Tyvola - domestic disturbance

Officer Woodlief received complaints from attending residents about
vagrants hanging around businesses on South Blvd. and near Emerywood.
These vagrants beg for money & annoy people. She explained that people
need to call 911 to report these beggars. Give a good description so they
can determine who the individual is. DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY! That is
contributing to their alcohol addition. If you give them food, it will go
in the ditch. These beggars are homeless by choice & do not want to follow
any rules. Officer Woodlief said the businesses have been cooperating to
help them reduce this public nuisance.

Officer Denny Crowder with the Traffic Dept. from the South Division
suggested forming a safety committee that could e-mail residents about
immediate issues that come up. He also suggested putting an alarm sticker
on your door as if you had an alarm system in your home.

Officer Crowder said they are looking in our area for a small, 2-door green
Saturn car driven by a black male weighing about 290. Be on the lookout
for any suspicious characters and report them to 911!

He is also going to bring Tyvola Road to the Traffic team to take a look at
the speeding & wreaks.


URBAN STREET DESIGN GUIDE
Marty attended one of the USDG open houses last month. Afterwards, he
e-mailed City Council & CDOT regarding TYVOLA ROAD. The plans for city
streets call for shorter blocks, crosswalks, sidewalks, bike lanes, etc. to
encourage pedestrian traffic. His concern (and everyone else's) is how
Tyvola Road will fit into this plan. Our neighborhood is bisected by this
road which is dangerous to pedestrians. There is a serious problem with
speeding traffic, a lack of any crosswalks, and traffic on the South Side
not able to safely head West on Tyvola. Marty expects to receive feedback
from the City Manager, Pam Syfert's office regarding his correspondence to
our city officials about this problem. He'll share this at our next
meeting.


PRESENTATION BY: Mark Griffin, Zoning Inspector for our area
Accompanied by Parris Waddy who has also done a lot of work on zoning
issues for our neighborhood

Mark works with 3 areas of the zoning regulations:
- Permits - If the cost of a home improvement is over $5,000 or if
structural changes will be made, a zoning permit must be obtained. This
will insure improvements are made according to the code requirements.
- Customary Occupations - There are restrictions on operating a
business out of your home. If you operate a business in your home, you
need a zoning permit.
- Large Commercial Vehicles - You cannot park commercial vehicles at
your residence. This includes stretch limos which have been a problem in
our neighborhood. No tractor trailers, tandem trucks or buses are allowed
either in a residential neighborhood.

neighborhood or unacceptable business operations, CALL 311 to report these

2006 ELECTIONS FOR HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATION OFFICERS

New Nominations:

- Ingrid Lachner - Director
Ingrid has done a lot of hard work for our neighborhood over the
years & this year helped to get door prizes for our picnic & worked on the
Street Party celebration.
- Matt Magnasco - Director
Matt works for the Dept. of Transportation & brings good information
to our neighborhood regarding transportation issues.
- Ted Harris - Director
Ted lives on Gentry Place & is an active realtor.

Current Officers & Directors who are willing to serve again for 2006 are:

President: Martin Doss
Vice President: John Olsadovsky
Secretary: Cheryl Furr
Treasurer: Dee McCandlish

Directors (Serves a 2-year term):
Ted Peters - 1 year left
Dan Boyett - 1 year left
Debra Campbell - 1 year left
(Dave Moore was removed mid term for not attending meetings!)

Eric Stenstrom motioned to close the nominations for 2006. We voted and
all were elected as nominated. No one opposed. All elected officers are
expected to attend the majority of our neighborhood meetings.

SEX CRIME WEBSITE
www.familywatchdog.us/search.asp provided by Sgt. Lester allows you to
search for convicted sex offenders living in our neighborhood. there were
two listed on the South Side of Tyvola - 1 on Camborne & 1 on Kentland.
Just key in your address and the site reveals a map showing the location of
offenders in regards to your home & schools.


SIGN TOPPERS - Marty is looking into adding a sign topper to our current
neighborhood signs displaying our website. These would cost $6 each for a
double-sided 3" X 24" sign. He is still getting other price quotes.


HOLIDAY SOCIAL replaces our December Meeting
Monday, December 12th - Door opens at 7pm; the party starts
officially at 7:30 pm. Bring desserts or snack-type party foods to share. Invite your neighbors everyone is welcome to attend.
Eudora Alston has volunteered to help with this event. If anyone else

ADOPT A STREET SIGNS for Seneca Place have gone up. Both Seneca Place &
Tyvola Rd. are Adopt A Streets of Madison Park. Marty has spent time
removing campaign signs & trash on these streets recently. Pnother group
of volunteers will be organized to work together to pick up trash soon
after the first of the year. It shouldn't take longer than around 45
minutes. We will need to do this at least once a quarter to keep our signs
displayed.


TRAFFIC RECOUNT FOR BAKER
- For extra STOP signs at Cooper & Baker. If you see the black line
across the road on Baker, make extra trips. We need 1000 vehicles to add
the requested Stop signs. It may be the 2nd Friday in December for the
counting. The counting is only for one 24 hour period.


TREASURY REPORT
Dee McCandlish reported that we have $312.36 in the bank & 41 paid
members for 2006. PAY YOUR MEMBERSHIP DUES! $10.00 before Dec. 1, 2005;
$15.00 afterwards.


GARDEN CLUB
Holiday Wreath Making for the Dec. meeting. At Wedgewood Baptist,
December 1st (Thursday) at 7pm. Bring greenery & wreath-making materials.
