Officer Chris Lyon passed out and discussed crime statistics for the neighborhood. There seems to be a trend of yard tools being stolen from
outside storage sheds, even when the sheds are locked.
Candace Armstrong gave the treasury report for Dee McCandish. Currently we have $248 in our checking account. Members can send their dues to her at any time, or bring them to the next meeting.
The discussion of HOA banners was brought up again, and it was suggested that instead of having a couple of large banners made, that we have the smaller yard signs created, similar to real estate directional signs.
These can be put in designated yards, and must be placed 11?’ from the street. Lamar Gunter and Martin Doss will continue checking the prices.
We are looking into planning a joint picnic with neighboring neighborhood associations, possibly in late September. We are considering including
Montclaire, Starmount, and/or Park Road neighborhood associations. If you are interested in helping contact either Candace Armstrong
704.523.3868 or Debra Campbell 704.523.6163.
Gina Nickerson was our guest speaker from the City of Charlotte. She is an inspector with solid waste services. Gina?’s role is to monitor
illegal signs, excessive weeds and grass in yards, and other eyesores such as broken-down cars that are planted in driveways. If you ever have a complaint, you can call 704-336-2673, or her direct line is 704-398-6762.
On a similar subject, Chris asked us to keep an eye out for graffiti in the neighborhood or businesses nearby, and to page him (704.518.3064) if we see anything. Graffiti is often gang-based, and although we do not have gang activity in our area, it is south of us and we need to be aware that it can come our way.
It was also brought up that it could be helpful to start a neighborhood referral sheet, referring contractors, yard services, etc. to each other.
Please send your names and we will start a list. When you need a name call and we can tell you the names and telephone numbers.
Jean Rabie, Cheryl Furr and Susie Cooper who live on Wedgewood Drive have coordinated and circulated a petition with regard to the installation of two speed humps on Wedgewood Drive between Tyvola Road and Seneca Place.
The petition has been accorded a second tier priority. This means that by the deadline of June 24th, if other first tier priority petitions have not been filed, then Jean?’s petition will become a priority and speed humps will be installed. The Madison Park Homeowners Association must endorse this request. This is an entrance into our neighborhood and we
should have the humps done in a brick patterned top to be consistent with the humps on Seneca Place. This is an occasion for which the HOA could request the allocation of money that has been set aside in escrow with the city for the specific purpose of traffic improvement within Madison Park. Jean will keep us appraised.
Our next meeting will be Monday, July 8th at 7:30PM at Wedgewood Baptist Church. We will be going over our Newsletter volunteer walker list,
ideas for the upcoming picnic and reviewing our Vision Statement and our Mission Statement. So, please support your neighborhood association by
attend the meeting.
