MVCC Board meeting on 5/21/2003

The first post-installation Board meeting took place on Tuesday, May 21, 2003.

The Board established an Executive Committee, made up of the five MVCC officers. MVCC Chair, Tom Ponton, suggested that future Board meeting agendas should be determined by this new committee.

In another decision the Board established a Land Use and Planning Committee, to be chaired by Director Maritza Przekop.

Director Maritza Przekop made a presentation on Viacom?’s offer to provide bus shelters carrying Viacom advertisements. Stakeholders generally opposed the offer.

Director Amanda Seward made a presentation about the City?’s contract with the film industry about neighborhood movie shooting. The City will hold public hearings prior to renewing the contract.

Ira Handelman made a presentation on the Taco Bell Drive Thru proposal (Inglewood/Venice), which was generally disfavored by stakeholders.

A representative of the City?’s Street Services Division spoke about the removal and replanting of street trees on Grand View Avenue and requested that the community appoint a spokesperson to work with his office.

MVCC First Vice Chair, Bill Scheding, introduced the idea of pledging allegiance to the flag of the USA at each future Board meeting.

The Board decided to meet again on Tuesday, June 10, 2003.
