Specific Plan: Was it a waste?

Posted in: Westside Costa Mesa
Big debate now on whether it was a waste of time and money to go through the Specific Plan process this far and then not adopt a plan.
Most people had expected good things to come of it and were looking forward to a much better Westside.
Some people think it has enough good things in it that it should be adopted.
Some think it would have taken the Westside in the wrong direction.
Some think it doesn't go far enough and fear that settling for crumbs would forever keep us a second-rate part of town.
Some think it should be adopted simply because so much effort has gone into it.
Others view the Specific Plan as a first step, and that it has waked up the Westside to the idea that we can take charge of our own future.
What everyone is saying is that we must not drop the ball now.
What do YOU think? We may not have a plan yet, but we should talk it over, as neighbors. With this web site, we can have modern day Town Hall meetings.
Please let us know your feelings about this. WIA was created to give Westsiders a strong voice. Your thoughts and feelings are vital to achieving WIA's goals of improving quality of life and property values in Costa Mesa's Westside.
