Misuse of Bulletin Boards

Posted in: Mariners Point
It appears that someone has opted to ignore the first rule of use of these Bulletin Boards:

"It is a condition of your use of the Bulletin Boards and this Web site that you do not:

-- restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying the Bulletin Boards;"

Two messages were recently erased from the Bulletin Board without comment are discussion. Apparently this was done because the Author field was left blank. When posting a message on the Bulletin Board both "Author" and "Email" fields are marked "(optional)." If we do not honor the rules of a Bulletin Board it becomes ineffective.

In the same spirit, if Committees, Boards and Associations are run with disregard for the rules which govern them there can be no enduring benefit to any member.

deletion

Mariners Point Board of Directors asked that anonymous messages be deleted. Prior to deleting these messages, I attempted to have NeighborhoodLink add a comment within the 'Discussion' section that mentioned that if an author isn't identified, the messages would be deleted. Unfortunately, their capabilities didn't allow for this. In the future, NeighborhoodLink is upgrading to a system that will require that users log-in before posting any messages.

Although several of the user-input fields when posting a message are 'optional,' communities can provide further definition if they desire without breaking any rules of conduct. NeighborhoodLink uses the same web-site template for many different nieghborhoods and is unable to affect ours without affecting many others.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am still looking for ways to notify discussion members that authors must be identified. We can only be so picky when the site is free.

There would be no problem if authors simply identified themselves.

Have a nice day.

Now that the one time log-on system is in place, you should allow anonymous postings. People should feel free to post without retribution. The log-on system will keep the site clean. All your going to do force someone to create another site where people can post without fear. To see how this can happen go to the North Shore Neighborhood in St Petersburg,Fla. They are so upset with just the registration process that they created a seperate site. If you have a free and open process, what do you fear?

pointless

Then again what's the point, since no one uses this site.
