As you may know, the playground equipment at our park is well used. However, we have also seen the spring rides replaced a few times. Today, I was walking by when the City of Mesa was there to replace yet another spring ride. The spring was broken and the ride was completely gone.
Please be advised that the spring alone costs $500 and the ride costs about $1000. That is a lot of money that could be used to improve our park, instead of replacing broken equipment that is damaged by vandalism or misuse. That also adds up when you think this may be happening at other parks in our city. I had no idea that those rides for toddlers cost so much. The spring is supposed to last a lifetime, but get broken when older children and adults ride on them and swing too far back or forward.
Further, the baby/toddler swings cost $75 each. When older children or adults try to use them, they may also break. Even if they don't break, the metal in them will be bent in such a way that babies and toddlers will be unable to use them.
Please be a good steward of our park. Older kids and adults, please go to Rancho Del Mar's park (just a half mile away) to use their equipment that is meant for your age.
Thank You, Sandra Fischer
