III: Old Business:
A. Committee Reports:
Treasurers Report: Rose Faria reported November 30, 2000 balance of checking account $ 1,913.95 with no additional receipts or reimbursements.
B: Nominating Committee: It is time for the Nominating Committee to form to prepare the slate of officers and members at large. Persons available for the new elections: Secretary: Linda Ure; Treasurer: Rose Faria; Director: Ed Gomes (HFD); Director: Herbert Welder; Director: Jim Corcoran; Director: Katherine Tisch; Director: Rose Faria; Garage Sale: Richard Via; Children's Festivals Assistant: Georgette Gomes; Muse Editor: Linda Ure.
Planning and Development - Jim Trippler, of the HBO movie makers was unable to attend the January 9 meeting. Mr. Trippler will meet with MCA a future time as arranged by Suzi Hemmings.
Report from the KNB: Jim Corcoran reported that a Resolution concerning Weinberg's Luana Hills Golf Course(s) and adjacent lands, passed by the KNB, has sent to Legislators, Councilmembers and Government Agencies .
Discussion followed: The intent of Weinberg is not known at this time. Given the history of the Golf Course(s) it does not demonstrate good business sense to buy a failing Golf Course. In 2006 the covenant restriction to build will expire on the Agriculturally Zoned land adjacent to the developed Golf Course. In July 2000, the Koolaupoko Sustainable Communities Plan was adopted by the City and County and says that "infill" is the only development in Maunawili Valley. Therefore, accordingly, land outside the boundary is not to be developed. While it must be remembered that re-zoning may be political, Ag 2 to residential is not in the KPSCP. It took 3 years to develop the KPSCP and is consistent with a population growth of no more than 1% up through 2020, not just in Maunawili Valley, but the entire Koolaupoko. The KNB Resolution will be included in the Muse for February.
Letters Received by MCA: 1.) BWS: Regarding completed work on Auloa Road and non-effect on water pressure on Maunawili Valley Community and reiteration of reason for fire hydrants on Auloa Road in compliance with C & C ordinances. 2.) Councilmember Steve Holmes: HPD will monitor traffic speed on Maunawili Road near park with electronic devices and city drivers for excessive speed. Notice will be placed in February Muse. Department of Transportation Services will update the community as the Contract Vendor for Photo Radar Cam is funded in the February 2001 City/County Budget for use in our residential area as additional traffic monitoring. Notice will be placed in February Muse.
Elected Representatives: Rachel Hyland, representing David A. Pendleton, announced her number is 262-0593 and David Pendleton can be reached at 586-9490 and fax 586-9496.
Presidents Message: Linda Dybdal expressed warm and heartfelt thanks to Linda Ure for her dedication as Secretary and Muse Editor, Rose Faria for her skillful management of the MCA funds as Treasurer, Virginia Fine for the use of her home for this month's meeting, Joan Riggs for her dedication and hard work in preparing and overseeing the Children's Holiday Functions for the past two terms.

New Business: 1.) Virginia Fine noted the tennis court lights are on until 10 PM. Some community members request they be turned on only when in use. Is a timer device possible for this function? Lynda Dybdal will call Councilmember Steve Holmes about this possibility. 2.) Joan Riggs suggested a meeting at the park for music be considered for the spring or early summer for the community at large over and above any regularly scheduled holiday functions. A community Pot-Luck would be an appropriate way to host such an event. Lynda Dybdal recalled such events were held 10 or so years ago. 3.) Lynda Dybdal suggested a clubhouse would be in keeping with the possibilities for the park, similar to the Kailua District Park. 4.) Joan will contact Trinity Church for permission to use the facility March 6, 2001 for the MCA Annual Meeting and confirm for publication in the February Muse.
Board Meeting Schedule: Board meetings are scheduled the first Tuesday of each month unless otherwise noticed. Schedule of meetings: February 6, 2001: 1002 Lunaai Place, March 6, 2001, Trinity Church and School, Auloa Road.
