  • Respect-O-Meter: Valued Neighbor
On July 8th, 2007 between 1 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. someone bashed in the back and side window of my daughter's car. Since they did not steal anything, the police would not come out. I retrieved a beer bottle that should have the fingerprints of the person/persons that perpetrated the crime, however the need for those fingerprints are apparently only in the movies. A couple of weeks later, the young man across the street had his wheels and stereo stolen off his car (probably while someone was home). The thieves are getting more brazen. We are installing motion detector lights and plan to install cameras. The reason I am posting this information is to warn the parents of the teenagers (not limited to Ridge Point). If your son or daughter is caught on the video vandalizing--I will see that they are prosecuted. If we light up the neighborhood as people drive through it, they might think twice about stopping for a little ''fun''. I am hoping that others will follow suit to protect our neighborhood.
not to sound unsympathetic but..

a simple solution to this problem is to park cars in the garage. I think every home in ridge pointe has a 2 car garage, and some even have a 3 car garage. I would encourage this especially for the main arteries through the neighborhood and by the pool.

a typical answer to this suggestion is ''my garage is full'' and my response to that is ''is the stuff taking up space in the garage more valuable than the car sitting outside?'' in most cases it is not. and remember the old saying ''out of sight, out of mind'' don't give vandals a reason to mess with your stuff. another side benefit is it makes the appearance of your home and the neighborhood look better if you don't have the front of your house looking like a car lot.

you are uninformed

You are uninformed and unsymapthetic and obviously do not have children that are driving. I have three children and two adults that drive in my household. That is five cars. How do propose we put all those cars in my garage? We moved into this big house, because we are a big family. The front of my house has never looked like a car lot and that is rude of you to imply. We had a family reunion the night my daughter ''had'' to park in the street, because most of the people attending were over 80. Why is it when something bad happens the victim is to blame? We should not have to worry about getting windows bashed in. Should I suggest that maybe one of the homeowners in the are did not like that she parked in the street, so they smashed in her windows, to change her behavior? Perhaps you??? No that would be rude. We work very hard to make our house look beautiful. The only time it is not is when we have a great deal of rain and cannot mow.

I posted a solution, more motion detection lighting. Your solution is just self-serving and anonymous.
