big snow (don?’t ask me which one, they?’re all starting to blur together!), I had the pleasure of watching memories being made over in Herring Run Park.
A Mayfield grandmother had brought her two grandchildren ?— one a teenager and the other just approaching those wonderful years ?— to the hill off Chesterfield Ave. for some sledding.
What made it so special was that the kids were visiting from Florida, and it was their first snow ever! Sans snowboots, they took off down the hill on their saucer ?— the girl dragging her feet apprehensively ?— and after some coaching from grandma, had a blast.
Although my own two young girls were first timers as well that day, it was just as much fun to watch these two older children gain confidence with each trip down the hill and take part in what will perhaps be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
It?’s nice to think that when that brother and sister look back on that snowy day, which I?’m sure they will often, Herring Run Park and Mayfield will be part of those memories!
