I am an owner of two townhouses on Milliken Bend, and I am glad we are addressing the issue of lawn fees. We pay $57.09 PER SIDE per month. I have always paid my fees but I know others have not. Drive by the townhouses and see for yourself what that service involves. Not much.

I believe there are two reasons for the non payment. First, we pay a lot of money for a service we did not choose. Secondly, unless the new owners are told by the sellers or Realtors that the fees exist, they aren?’t notified of the fees until they?’re delinquent. Not a good policy.

I know that some townhouse owners want to maintain their own lawn. My concern is that not everyone would comply to high standards. Maybe if everyone could agree on a service it would help. I know that John DeWeese had strong feelings about this in the first POA meeting. He had someone else in mind to do the work that, in his opinion, would do it cheaper and better.

Derrek suggested that the lawn service payment be paid in full at the beginning of the year. I personally don?’t like to pay in advance for services. We have complaints on the quality of service provided now. Can you imagine the uproar if the work declines after it?’s paid for that far in advance? I really think that if the POA can get bids, let the owners pick the service they want, and are satisfied that they are getting what they pay for, payments will not be a problem.

This needs to be resolved for all of us. Comments please!
Great Ideas

I think these are great ideas. I also understand your concerns about not getting what you pay for and the advance payment issue. I think the first step to making everyone happy is finding out who all owns the town homes and getting the owners to meet and discuss what they want relating to lawn care, bidding, etc. Since the POA is still in its infancy, the beginning legwork needs to start with those who are most concerned. Dave Stanton had an updated list of owners and I think it included the town homes. Try making some phone calls?—you?’ll probably hear a lot of what you are saying! Patty Anderson is the head of the Grounds Committee. Let her know your thoughts and that you are willing to help her get to the bottom of this. Until the POA gets its feet, we need to resolve these problems as a community or it just isn?’t gonna happen.
