July 2018 - Message from MRE HOA Board to Community Members

During the MRE HOA board meeting on July 10, the board decided to make an allowance for temporary above ground swimming pools that meet the following requirements:

1.  Can be no larger than 14ft across and 24 inches deep; unless it’s contained within a fenced in area, in which case a temporary pool could go to 14’ across and 36” deep (note: the 24” depth limit is based on Village of Van Buren pool restrictions)
2. Must be free standing with no structural support members
3. No digging or excavation is permissible to accommodate the pool
4. Pool may be erected between the dates of Memorial Day through Labor Day
5. While ‘out of season’ the pool must be taken down and stored inside
6. Pool and landscape around pool must be properly maintained as to not create a nuisance for neighbors

 The board also wanted to remind community members of the proper storage of garbage cans:

1. Garbage cans are to be stored either in a garage or behind a screen so they are generally not visible from the front or side of the home
2. If a screen is constructed to store the garbage can outdoors, the screen should be constructed in a manner and with materials so the appearance of the screen fits with the exterior finish of the home, so the screen matches the architectural intent of the home

 Lastly, for community members who do not live on the lake, you may work with your neighbors who live on the lake to gain access for fishing, swimming, kayaking, etc…but only if this is agreeable with your neighbors on the lake.  And all community members are reminded to use appropriate etiquette when using the lake and be sure to clean up after yourself when done using the lake and a neighbor’s yard to access the lake.
