FIRE DEPARTMENT URGES HOME SAFETY
On October 9, 1871 , the Great Chicago Fire killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, and destroyed more than 17,000 buildings. It now serves as a reminder to be vigilant about home safety in the event of a fire. If your family has not practiced a home escape plan in the last six months, they could be unprepared in an emergency.
