Merle Hay Neighborhood Association

So, it came as a surprise to the city that this is such a bad corner. I've talked to them about it several times, including the entire stretch from MH to Beaver. This has to be one of the fastest and longest unregulated stretches of pavement anywhere. I wonder if the accidents are recorded both in DM & Urbandale so neither gets a complete accounting.

Urbandale has a 25 mph speed limit and it is 35 in DM even though there is a park, pool, stadium, schools and it is residential, not business. I got a crosswalk painted at 50th & Aurora, but more changes, more policing, lower speed limits, sidewalks on the south side, and a light at 50th are needed.

This corner is 1/2 Merle Hay NA, 1/4 Meredith NA and 1/4 Urbandale, maybe together we can get some changes made.

3 wrecks

Within the past few days (since school started) I have seen 3 wrecks (at 55th, 54th & Beaver) on Aurora. Are there more during school months?

Last Friday (9-14) there was a wreck @ 57th & Aurora.

On the radio about 7:45 AM - another wreck at 50th & Aurora.
