Neighborhood Watch: Let’s Get it Started

Dec 03, 2007

The Violations and Safety Committee would like to start a Neighborhood Watch Program for Merrill Pines and they need your help.
The Jacksonville Sheriff?’s Office requires at least 40% participation of a neighborhood in order to establish a program.
The program will consist of two informational meetings to train residents, residents will volunteer as either a Captain or Watcher, and monthly meetings will also be required to maintain the program.
The two informational meetings will be conducted by a JSO officer and will inform volunteers how to keep a watchful eye on our property.

The volunteers will be categorized as either Captains or Watchers. The Watchers will be the eyes and ears of the neighborhood. They will also work with and assist the Captains. The Captains will act as a liaison between the Watchers and the Violations and Security Committee.

The Neighborhood Watch should keep the community informed, not scared. Posting reminders and hosting meetings with guest speakers like police officers, detectives, and security companies will help keep safety at the top of everyone?’s mind.

Please contact Jason Bifolck at merrillpinesboard@hotmail.com if you are interested in becoming a Captain.
