The Board of Directors has approved some changes for parking in 2008. How will these changes affect you?
First, let?’s get one thing straight: Every vehicle that is owned by someone living in Merrill Pines needs a current parking decal. Even overnight visitors will need the temporary pass (Newsletter insert).
The differences in 2008 decals are dependent on if you are a renter or an owner:
Renter Decals: Nothing has changed. All vehicles owned by you or someone living in your unit will still need two decals - a Merrill Pines Decal and a decal that has the current year. Your decal must be renewed every year. Contact your rental company or MAY Management for a 2008 decal.
Owner Decals: Owner vehicles will need the Merrill Pines decal, only. The owner vehicle decal will be automatically renewed if you are in good standing with the Association.
Owners with an expired decal will receive notice from MAY Management with instructions on how to renew.
The next major change is the No Parking Zone in front of buildings 2 - 6.
Any car parked in this area for any length of time is subject to towing without warning. The residents who park in the spaces are blocked in when cars are parked along the curb. Therefore, this will no longer be tolerated.
Another parking issue is about the assigned parking spaces. This is not a new rule. Merrill Pines has had assigned parking for about a year.
The Board unanimously approved the assigned spaces after members complained about having to park far from their units. The members requested closer spaces, so that they would feel safer coming home late at night.
Members have also requested more lighting for the same reason. The Board has been researching this matter and is requesting a Special Committee to recommend a solution.
