AIDS Walk 2005
The Merry Oaks neighborhood has been asked to participate in the AIDS Walk Charlotte 2005. This event on Saturday morning, May 7, is a fund raiser for RAIN (Regional AIDS Interfaith Network). RAIN's mission is to raise awareness of HIV & AIDS throughout the Charlotte region, to support programs which improve the quality of life for those living with HIV & AIDS, and to provide HIV & AIDS prevention education. Participation means that a MONA team would raise pledges and then walk in the event.
We need an organizer, so please volunteer if you can do this. It will be easy since it can all be done by email. If you are willing to organize, to participate or pledge, please email reply to me, Nancy, and I will hook you up with the others. If there aren't enough people for a MONA team, I will hook you up with our neighbors Plaza Midwood or Commonwealth-Morningside neighborhood. You get more information at http://www.aidswalkcharlotte.org or by calling committee member Tracy Gregg at 704-577-8766.

Use the web for neighborhood concerns
To view crime events go to: http://maps.cmpdweb.org/cmpdnet/map.aspx , use the zoom tools to get down to our neighborhood, then use the tools on the left to find calls for service and reported incidents by block addresses.
Here's how neighbors can track complaints, permits and inspections for the Zoning Department and Building Standards. You can also research inspections on work done by previous owners of your own house.
1. Visit www.MeckPermit.com
2. Click on "Online Permitting System"
3. Click on "View Permits by Address" in the left column.
If you need information on building codes, zoning and other topics, click on the "Consumers" button on the main page at MeckPermit.com. You may e-mail ThomasBlue@aol.com (MONA neighbor) if you need more info on this stuff.
Please e-mail _graffiti@ci.charlotte.nc.us_ if you see graffiti anywhere in our city. Most graffiti on public
property can be removed within 48 hours. Removal from private property may take longer due to notification of property owners.
Next MONA meeting: June 16
Note that the MONA general meeting schedule has been changed from January-May-September to February-June-October.
Please email reply with suggestions on how to make this periodic MONA update more useful to you.
