Sad Week at Nanna's

Posted in: Wyandotte
I am sure everyone is very sad to hear about the death early this week of Mary Mikhail from Nanna's.

The past few days I have been hearing many nice comments about Mary and especially her lovely smile. Others have commented on Mary's dedication to her staff and in turn their obvious respect for her. I believe the love of her family and friends must have given her the personal strength to sit on that padded stool with a smile and sincere ''Thank You'' for all her customers who welcomed her and the diner back after the tragic fire on March 17, 2001.

One of my best recollections of Mary was her soft-spoken determined address to the City Council late one Monday night. She could have won an Academy Award for that appearance, expressing the strength of her convictions in an attempt to get her business re-opened!

Mary worked long and hard for Nanna's, all the while trying to overcome her painful fight against cancer. Mary's business is open and doing well but unfortunately she lost her battle with cancer.

I think Mary would be pleased to be remembered for her smile and her courage! She was a wonderful lady who will be greatly missed here in Wyandotte.

A lovely tribute

Corki, you have honored Mary with this beautiful bouquet of memories. Her death was untimely, but she fought the beast of her disease for so long and so hard, that God has decided that she needed to go home.

My prayers and sympathy go out to her family.
I didn't know her

, But it is always touching to hear somebody talk so kindly of another, One can only hope they are respected and love when they pass.sounds like she was. KT
