Middle Run Crossing

November 2009 Update

Welcome!  The next planning meeting for the neighborhood social events will be held on December 1st at 6:30PM.  If you would like to join us, please send your name and phone number to mrxcommunity@yahoo.com

Civic Committee FYIs:

Neighborhood Watch - Committee formation
  • If you are interested in contributing to the formation of a Neighborhood Watch committee, please attend the Social Committee meeting in December or January.  We also welcome anyone with past experience in Neighborhood Watch to help set up the program.  Please email the community mailbox with your interest and/or suggestions.

Social Committee FYIs:

Halloween Parade - Great Success!
  • Thank you everyone who participated in the Halloween Parade!  We had a police escort from New Castle County's finest, our own Officer Herring, for our littlest costumed folks!  From Batman to Cowboys, from Fairies to Dorothy, a great time was had by all.  We hope everyone enjoyed the treat bags as well as decorating their own pumpkin.  A special thank you to Betty Agovino from May Kay for sponsoring the parade.

Visit from Santa - Tentative At Best :(
  • Right now we are actively trying to engage one of the local fire companies to escort Santa through the neighborhood.  If anyone has a contact at either Aetna Hook and Ladder or Mill Creek Fire Company, we could really use the assistance in communicating our request.  We feel there is a risk for the escort/visit from Santa not happening due to the fact we could not secure a firetruck to escort our Halloween parade as in years past.  We know budgets are tight, so if anyone can help us with this request it is greatly appreciated.

Letters to Santa - Volunteers Needed
  • At our December committee meeting we will decide whether we have the resources to help Santa with the letters from the neighborhood children.  If you are interested in working some "elf" magic, please email the community mailbox and we will get back to you with the decision and/or help required.

Annual Donation Drive for the Social Committee - new approach
  • The Social Committee funding depends entirely on the donations from neighbors.  The suggested donation is $12 annually or $1 per month per household.  Over the past two years less than 20% of the households in the entire neighborhood donated
  • In 2010, we will begin an exciting campaign to hopefully increase the number of households who donate, including a quarterly raffle to reward those who support our neighborhood.  So keep an eye out for the new look, new letter and new raffle in January!

We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!
