The Middle Run Crossing Community Corner is a volunteer organization that encompasses both the exisiting social committee, which has organized neighborhood events for over 10 years, and the newer civic committee, interested in posting civic-related information to the website.
As this time, MRX does not have a formal Civic Association like other neighborhoods. There is the MRX Service Corporation, described below, and the volunteer-based Community Corner, described above.
The Community Corner & Social Committee are not affiliated with the Middle Run Crossing Service Corporation. The Service Corporation is a separate, deed-mandated, volunteer-based Board of Directors (elected from the neighborhood) that contracts with BC Consulting to maintain the open spaces of the neighborhood, contract for snow removal and enforce the deed restrictions of the community. The benefit of having the Service Corporation is that the property values can be maintained by having the open spaces maintained properly, everyone equally contributing to snow removal, and consistent enforcement of exterior enhancements such as fencing, siding and sheds.
The Service Corporation is required by deed to host an annual meeting for the neighborhood to disclose the annual budget and spending of our annual assessment. The Service Corporation assists the social committee by sending out the annual request for donations, thus saving the committee extra postage. Please see the links under "Community Pages" for more information on the Service Corporation, such as it's by-laws and articles of incorporation. If you have any questions about the activites of the Service Corporation, please see the BC Consulting contact information for Tom Cahill under "Neighborhood Contacts".
Therefore, in the public interest, the MRX Community Corner is designed to:
Support the Civic interests:
- posting updates on the Christiana School District
- posting vandalism and crime reports
- uploading MRX Deed Restrictions
- posting updates on local legistative and/or government issues
Support Social activities:
- Bringing Santa through MRX via Newark Fire Company
- Hosting Easter and Halloween parades
- Hosting Annual Community Yard Sale, BINGO nights, Progessive Dinners
- Other friendly, safe, and fun activities to give MRX a greater sense of community for all neighbors
The Social activities of the neighborhood are supported by your voluntary donation to the social committee. A request of $12/household ($1/month) is the suggested contribution. The assessment for maintenance collected annually by BC Consulting cannot and does not fund any of these events. Please see the PDF form, Social Committee Donation, for submitting your voluntary contribution to the committee.
