I'd like to use the lot adjacent to Smith Mill road for a community garden. I'm not sure if I need specific clearance by the civic association or if the support of my neighbors is enough, but if anyone else knows more, please let me know.

I think it's a great idea, but i'll offer a question and a caution. Does your lot not have space to put a small garden in ? And, up there, I think the deer are going to be your biggest problem, you'll need to think about how to deter them from enjoying the fruits of yoru labors. Lastly, water, would you haul water in ? |

I believe the lot is at least and acre or more, ample room for some large crop. There are ways to deter deer, easy fencing can be put up. Cedar chips are a great deterant of rodents and an alternative to moth balls.Water could be an issue at first, but I was hoping that with a produce stand it would be able to produce enough revenue for a well dregde. That's why I really need to find out how supportive the neighborhood will be. There are a lot of options with a concept like this, however, the whole backbone behind my motivation is to create neighborhood revenue in order to have funds for more improvements. |
